Goals when elected-
Once I’m elected to the NC General Assembly, I hope to accomplish a variety of tasks. My main focus will be to ensure that a bill passes the state house that gives public teachers and other certified staff in North Carolina another raise. As our state struggles to retain the best teachers to other higher paying states. Secondly I want to go after and hold fossil fuel corporations like Duke Energy accountable and make them pay their fair share in taxes. While also encouraging more clean and renewable energy companies to come to our state and provide more good paying jobs while also helping to reverse the effects of climate change. My next biggest goal to accomplish would be to build support and pass a Medicare for All bill, that will end the greed by the pharmaceutical and healthcare industry. As even with Medicaid expansion in NC, hundreds of thousands of people can’t afford to go the the doctor when they
are sick and have a large deductible or copayments. I believe that it is a shame that we are the only major developed country in the world the doesn’t make healthcare a human right and not a privilege.
It’s long overdue that we allow people to opt into a Medicare for All program and pay for it by making Corporate America and those who are extremely wealthy to finally pay their fair share in taxes and raising the corporate tax rate for multibillion dollar corporations.
